UPCL MD P. C. Dhayani Reviews Revenue Performance, Sets Targets for Billing and Collection Efficiency

Dehradun: Newly appointed Managing Director of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), Shri P. C. Dhayani, chaired a revenue review meeting with senior officials from regional offices, circles, divisions, and field units. During the meeting, Shri Dhayani stressed the importance of teamwork in transforming UPCL into a financially strong and profit-making power distribution company. Declaring FY 2026–27 as the “Year of Billing Efficiency,” he directed all regional units to achieve 92% Billing Efficiency and 100% Collection Efficiency, warning that negligence in recovering dues from major defaulters would not be tolerated.

He also instructed officials to intensify action against electricity theft, improve field monitoring, maintain accurate billing rates, and ensure the timely completion of all works with quality standards. Shri Dhayani said UPCL is exploring innovative power procurement solutions, including battery-based energy storage, to reduce peak-hour power purchase costs while ensuring affordable electricity for consumers. Emphasizing the principle of “Less Government, More Governance,” the Managing Director assured employees that their genuine concerns would be addressed while urging everyone to work with dedication for the growth of the corporation and better consumer services.  Later, representatives of the Uttarakhand Electricity Officers and Employees Joint Struggle Front called on Shri Dhayani and congratulated him on his appointment as the permanent Managing Director of UPCL. They assured him of their full support in strengthening the corporation. A delegation from the Industries Association of Uttarakhand also met the Managing Director and extended its congratulations and best wishes on his new responsibility.
