NDMC Declares Sangli Apartments as Eighth ‘Anupam Colony’ Under Zero-Waste Initiative
New Delhi: NDMC Chairperson Shri Keshav Chandra on Sunday certified Sangli Apartments, Copernicus Marg, as an “Anupam Colony”, recognising it as a model residential community for exemplary waste management and sustainability practices.Unveiling the plaque, Shri Keshav Chandra congratulated residents and said, “This is the eighth colony to be certified as ‘Anupam Colony’. The most encouraging part is the enthusiasm and vibrancy with which residents have come forward. Sangli Apartments has set up five bins for micro-segregation of dry waste—clothes, toys, cardboard, plastic and glass—to remove recyclables and reduce waste at source. Further segregation is done for sanitary waste, special care waste, wet waste, horticulture waste and e-waste. This is possible only because of proactive involvement of residents.”He added that four additional bins have been placed for domestic hazardous waste as per the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. “We are working beyond the rules in all these colonies. This is the first defence services colony to achieve this distinction,” Shri Chandra said. The NDMC Chairperson appreciated residents for their commitment to creating a cleaner and greener neighbourhood. “The certification reflects the power of collective community action in achieving environmental sustainability.
