BMS Welcomes ELI Scheme; Urges Assurance of Quality Employment, Worker Protections

New Delhi :- Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) warmly welcomes the Union Cabinet’s approval of the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme. With an impressive outlay of ₹99,446 crore, this scheme marks a historic step towards creating over 3.5 crore jobs, incentivising establishments to appoint new workers, and empowering youth entering the workforce for the first time. This initiative has the potential to significantly reduce unemployment, strengthen India’s workforce, and contribute to national development. BMS thanks government of India for taking a good initiative in creating employment opportunities. BMS recognises the ELI Scheme as a promising opportunity for transformative change in India’s labour landscape, with the potential to formalise employment, expand the social security net, and particularly boost job creation in the manufacturing sector. However, BMS firmly believes that increasing the sheer number of jobs is not enough; the quality of employment, job security, safe workplaces, and access to social security benefits are equally important.
 BMS urges the government to ensure that the implementation of this scheme:
- Restricts incentives to establishments creating quality and stable employment only,
- Mandates provision of fair wages, health protection, provident fund (PF), insurance (ESI), and other statutory benefits for workers,
- Eliminates the possibility of misuse through short-term or contractual hiring done solely to claim incentives.
- Give the highest priority to Rural, Micro and Small Industries working in Manufacturing and Ancillary Industries.
-Take all care, that, the big industries do not hijack the benefits of this good Scheme.
BMS assures full cooperation with the government and employers to support the effective implementation of the ELI Scheme, ensuring its benefits truly reach India’s workers and help improve their standard of living.
